THREAT OF GERMS

Germs threaten us humans, our health and partly our lives!

Germs and pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, fungi or parasites are all around us. Humans need bacteria to live but only the good ones. However, because these are often species that are harmful to the human organism, diseases can be triggered.

These pathogens are particularly dangerous for children and the elderly or weakened people (weakened people are immunosuppressed people).

The infections sometimes take a dramatic course and can quickly become life-threatening. Similarly devastating, an illness can also end in permanent disability and inability to work. Nevertheless, research shows that the danger is massively underestimated by many.

For a long time it seemed as if mankind had found a miracle cure against dangerous pathogens: broad-spectrum antibiotics, antivirals, mycostatics. Thanks to them, people now survive blood poisoning, pneumonia or other serious illnesses.

But these remedies are losing their power, more and more germs are becoming insensitive: resistant.

In Germany alone, between 15,000 and 25,000 people die every year from hospital infections, which are mainly caused by such multi-resistant germs. In Austria we count 5,000 deaths out of 100,000 sick people per year!

The topic of cleanliness and hygiene is therefore becoming immensely important.
